Energy system models sit at the heart of the energy transition. Every day, thousands of analysts, planners, engineers, and policymakers rely on them to make high-stakes decisions: where to site new renewable generation, how to value battery storage, how power flows through the grid, and how electricity markets behave under future scenarios.
Yet despite their enormous importance, much of the industry still relies on legacy software built decades ago. Bayesian Energy exists to change that. We are building modern software and data products designed for today’s energy systems and the challenges of the 21st century.
Founded in March 2025, Bayesian Energy has already made a meaningful impact in its first nine months while remaining fully bootstrapped. We now have active users of our flagship product, Convexity, and are working with world-class companies and partners around the globe. Users choose Convexity because it is powerful, while remaining simple and genuinely enjoyable to use.
Our goal is to build a world-class platform that modernises energy system modelling and dramatically accelerates decision-making around the most consequential choices of the energy transition. To get there, we need your help.
We’re building our founding team: a small, highly motivated group excited to create a lean startup that makes a meaningful impact on the energy sector.
You’ll get the best parts of building a company: real autonomy, true ownership, rapid iteration from a blank slate, and the opportunity to shape both the technical direction and the culture from day one. You won’t be distracted by the worst parts of early-stage startups such as fundraising or uncertainty about whether you’re working on a viable product.
At Bayesian Energy, that groundwork is already in place. We have financial runway for the year ahead and are working with organisations at the forefront of the energy transition. Demand for our products is growing, and inbound interest is beginning to outpace our capacity.
The question is no longer whether this work matters, but how fast we can build to meet demand.
We’re looking for up to three people to join our founding team. This role is for engineers and modellers who want real responsibility and are excited to go deep into technical details; helping steer the direction of the company for years to come.
You might come from a background in software engineering, energy and power systems, scientific or numerical modelling, or machine learning. Experience across our tech stack (below) is a plus, but not a requirement. We care far more about technical depth, curiosity, and good judgment than about any specific pedigree.
If you’re deeply technical, comfortable writing code, and excited by complex systems, we expect you’ll be able to pick up the domain quickly. For example, if you’ve completed a Maths or physics PhD, enjoy building software, and are intellectually courageous, you’ll likely thrive here, even if you haven’t worked directly in energy systems before.
What matters most is a willingness to take ownership, confidence tackling unfamiliar problems, and the ability to learn technical concepts quickly.
